And I am back

September 27, 2008

I managed to bring this blog back from the dead and as such will be posting here from now on. There has been a lot going on in my world and I have tons of posts that I need to write but have oh so little time right now as I have about 5 assignments due this week. But please do come back! Tomorrow I’ll be posting my first proper book review on here.

I’ll also fill you all in on the lastest saga with my health and the battle over my new set of wheels. Oh, I got a letter of apology from the care agency, too. Now I am just hoping they don’t do nasty things like withhold care because I complained. Anyway, stay tuned…

She’s back

August 1, 2008

It has been awhile since my last post again. But I am back and plan to start posting each day again. I have been inspired to write by many events and plan on writing about each of them in the coming days. I thought I would fill you in on what has been going on in my life since I last wrote. I am closer to answers to the medical mystery as a biopsy of the strange lumps on my legs was finally done. I don’t have the results yet, but I am hopeful that they will lead my doctors in the right direction.

In 11 weeks I will have completed my first year of law school. I am working hard (and that’s probably my biggest reason for neglecting this blog) and loving it.

In family news I am an aunty. Kayden was born on the second of July and he is so cute!

Well not much else is going on. If you are reading this please leave a comment so I know you are out there.

What Color Is Your Aura?

April 24, 2008

Today is ANZAC day here in Australia. It is the one day where we as a nation give thanks to those who have fought for and those who continue to fight for our freedom. The day has always had a special significance to me because several of my family members have been involved in various wars. The following is a poem I wrote  that I believe is a fitting tribe to the ANZACS.

When the war began they were at home working the lands,

But when the call came they were the first to raise their hands.

To fight for their country.

To stand tall,

To try & win the war.

Then one day,

As battle lines when drawn,

A gun rang out in the night

And a boy lost his life.

Many years later,

Many lives lost

We stand to remember,

How they fought for us

Fought for our freedom

Fought for our lives

Fought for our country

Fought so we can stand with pride

They gave their lives so we could live

Yet we act like its nothing to give

Fighting amongst friends

Like mateship means nothing

They mean nothing

Yet they are/were something to someone

A son, a father, a brother, a friend,

As I stand here today my pride knows no end

For lest we forget

Hello and welcome to my new home on the web

April 22, 2008

My name is Karen and I’m 24 and live in Australia. I’m kind of new at the whole blogging thing so please bear with me as I figure this out. I have a caringbridge page and a carepage but lately I have been wanting to expand the things I write about so it is not just about my topsy turvy health (Although the health stuff will probably creep on here too). This page should allow me to do that.

First some of the basics about me and an explanation of the title. I have Cerebral Palsy, more specifically Spastic Deplegia. In my case both my legs and my right arm are effected. I use a wheelchair most of the time (hence the wheely part of the title). I love to write and tend to ramble on a bit and I am a motorsport fanatic- hence the racer part of the title.

I have a whole lot more to say but it is almost time for dinner and I want to send this site out to people so I’ll come back and write a new post after dinner.
